The Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) Clerk exam is an incredibly popular competitive examination in India, attracting massive numbers of candidates. To handle these volumes, the IBPS portal utilizes an automated screening process for online applications. If your IBPS Clerk photo size, signature dimensions, or left thumb impression file sizes do not adhere to their strict guidelines, the upload will fail. Proper formatting is essential to successfully complete your application and generate your admit card.
For your passport-size color photograph, the IBPS portal requires exact mapping to 200 pixels in width and 230 pixels in height (200x230 px). The digital file size of the photo must strictly fall between 20 KB and 50 KB. Images that exceed 50 KB or fall below 20 KB will trigger an immediate rejection error. It is mandatory to use a recent photo with a clear, plain white background. Photographs taken with heavy flash glares, "red-eye" effects, or while wearing sunglasses or caps are strictly forbidden.
Your signature serves as your biometric verification. The required IBPS Clerk signature size must be mapped exactly to 140 pixels wide by 60 pixels high (140x60 px). The file size limit for your signature is heavily compressed—it must stay within the 10 KB to 20 KB range. You must sign on plain white paper using a black ink pen; blue ink is often discouraged because black offers better scanner readability. Most importantly, do not sign in uppercase block letters; your signature must be in your normal running handwriting.
For bank exams (IBPS, SBI, etc.), the left thumb impression should be a pixel image (3 cm x 3 cm) at 200 DPI. The file must be in JPG/JPEG format, with a file size between 20 KB and 50 KB. It should be taken with black or blue ink on white paper. Ensure the ridges of your thumbprint are clear, as smudged or blurry impressions can create massive hurdles during physical verification at the exam center. If you also apply for SSC exams, you can compare this with our SSC CGL guidelines, which also share strict, though slightly different, rules.
IBPS Clerk applicants are also required to upload a handwritten declaration. This must be written entirely in English, by the applicant's own hand, on white paper, using black ink. It must absolutely not be written in capital letters. The file size for this declaration needs to be between 50 KB and 100 KB, with dimensions of approximately 800 x 400 pixels.
Managing three or four different document specifications (dimensions and file sizes) using basic desktop software can be highly error-prone. Our multi-purpose tool fixes this. By clicking "Photograph," "Signature," or "Thumb Impression" on the tabs above, the algorithm automatically adjusts to the correct IBPS Clerk rules. You can safely upload large mobile photos (up to 3 MB), and the script will instantly crop, resize, and compress the file entirely within your web browser. Similar to our IBPS PO photo tool, your data remains completely private and is never uploaded to any remote server.
